The Nounification of English
The trouble began when we turned an adjective into a noun. "Intelligent" was an adjective describing an action before it became "intelligence" — a substance you could possess, measure, and eventually make artificial. The Hebrew word דבר means both "word" and "thing." This branch examines what happens when a verb becomes a noun, when a quality becomes a substance, and when language forgets that it built the container.
